Black Pearl King Oyster is a striking dark-capped oyster mushroom that grows in generous clusters — a reliable, rewarding variety that thrives in the steady climate of your Flush.
What to expect
Expect clusters of fanned mushrooms with deep grey-to-charcoal caps and pale, firm stems. The flavour is rich and savoury with a real umami depth, and the texture is meatier and more substantial than a common oyster — it holds its shape beautifully. It is a favourite for the pan: sear the pieces hard so the edges crisp and caramelise, then finish with butter, garlic or a splash of soy. It stands up just as well in stir-fries, braises and soups.
Growing in your Flush
In Basic mode, choose the Black Pearl King Oyster preset and the cabinet holds 16°C, 93% humidity and around 1250 ppm CO₂ for you. In Advanced mode, set those same targets from Set targets on the Home screen.
Once you load the block, small pins appear within a few days and grow quickly into clusters. Fresh air shapes the mushrooms: the modest CO₂ in this preset encourages full, well-formed caps, while too little airflow tends to push tall stems and small caps. A little light helps the caps colour up nicely. Expect your first flush around 1 to 2 weeks from loading. Harvest just before the caps flatten out, while the edges are still gently curled.
Harvest & beyond
Twist each cluster away from the block at its base, taking the whole bunch at once. After your first flush, give the rested block a week or so — keep it in the Flush under the same preset — and it will often push a second, smaller flush. Once new pins slow to a stop, the block has given its best and can go to the compost.
